Pearce Estate Park Update

Well, more great news for the Torch Classic, and especially all those participants who attended and volunteered at our Calgary, Alberta event in 2000. Just to jog your memory, The Pearce Estate Wetland project was the first phase of a very large project. The project  will be complete in the fall of 2006 after  a major facelift  to the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery. The Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery has been producing over 2 1/2 million trout a year to stock the lakes and streams in the Province of Alberta.

The facelift will focus on renovating the Vistior’s Centre at the Fish Hatchery. New construction  will expand public viewing areas and reinforce educational initiatives within the Calgary School Systems. Lloyd Horn our 2000 Volunteer Day coordinator and Calgary retiree recently announced that BP has committed $225,000 to sponsor a Multimedia Threatre and new educational classrooms for local students and other community groups.

Talk about sharing a vision!   All of you can be extremely  proud of the role you played in making the  Pearce Estate Wetlands project a huge success. It takes a lot of work and a lot big hearts to make something like this happen. Here’s some updated photos for all you Torch Classic folks to enjoy!
